Nanjing-Santos Route Debuts: Nanjing Port’s First Direct Latin America Shipping Line

On the morning of December 2, under the supervision of Xinshengwei Customs House (affiliated to Nanjing Customs District), the COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Vessel Ding Qin, carrying over 13,000 tons of containerized and general cargo, departed from the Longtan Container Terminal at Nanjing Port, heading directly to Santos Port on Brazil’s east coast. This marks the maiden voyage of the “Nanjing-Santos” route, Nanjing Port’s first direct shipping route to Latin America and its very first genuine long-distance container shipping route. This milestone lays a solid foundation for expanding Nanjing Port’s ocean-going container shipping network.

The inaugural voyage carried a variety of goods, including photovoltaic products, chemicals, and glassware, with a journey time of approximately 40 days. By adopting a “direct shipping” approach, it saves about 15 days compared to the previous transshipment model.
