Liu Jingkang, founder of global smart imaging leader Insta360 and an alumnus of Nanjing University, has returned to where his entrepreneurial journey began, signing a strategic cooperation agreement with Nanjing University and the Nanjing municipal government.

Founded in Shenzhen in 2015, Insta360 has grown into a world-leading smart imaging brand, with products sold in over 200 countries and regions and a global patent portfolio approaching 1,000 filings. In 2024, the company surpassed GoPro to become the world’s top sports camera brand by market share, and in 2025 successfully listed on Shanghai’s STAR Market as the country’s first publicly traded smart imaging company.

“This partnership is both a way to give back to my alma mater and a strong vote of confidence in Nanjing’s innovation ecosystem,” Liu said.

The collaboration marks a new chapter in the company’s relationship with its home city.
