Nanjing–Houston (USA) shipping route launched

On the early morning of June 5, the vessel “GREEN VITORIA” departed from Nanjing Port’s Longtan Container Terminal with a full load of Chinese-made engineering equipment and vehicles. It set off on a roughly 40-day transoceanic voyage to the U.S. ports of Houston and Brunswick.

As a core hub in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and a key river-sea intermodal node under the Belt and Road Initiative, Nanjing Port serves as a vital gateway connecting regions along the Yangtze with global markets. Since the beginning of this year, the port has added three new international routes integrating container and bulk cargo, extending its reach to major hub ports in South America, South Asia, and North America, and steadily expanding its global shipping network.

Nanjing has been advancing its goal of becoming an international comprehensive transport hub and a regional shipping and logistics center. It balances safety and development, continuously strengthens service support for foreign trade routes, and pushes forward the capacity upgrade of the port to accommodate larger vessels and higher throughput, solidifying its position as the core river-sea intermodal hub.

In addition, Nanjing’s maritime, transport, customs, and border inspection authorities have established fast-track green channels for clearance and approval. Entry and exit formalities are handled swiftly, ensuring “zero waiting” for ships arriving for operations and “zero delay” for those departing after customs clearance, significantly improving the turnaround efficiency of foreign trade vessels.
