The Fifth Yangtze River Bridge is located about 13 kilometers upstream of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge and about 5 kilometers downstream of the Third Yangtze River Bridge. The project starts at Wuli Bridge in Pukou District, with a three-tower cable-stayed bridge across the main Yangtze River, and a tunnel along the Jiajiang River to join the Youth Olympics axis in Jianye District. The total length is 10 kilometers, 2-ways, 6-lanes,and the design speed of the bridge is 100 kilometers per hour. The internal design speed is 80 kilometers per hour. Construction officially started in May 2017.

The main bridge across the river is 1,796 meters long and the main span is 600 meters. It is the world’s first light-weight steel-concrete composite structure cable-stayed bridge, and it is also the domestically manufactured and assembled super-long-span cable-stayed bridge.

As an important link between the main city of Nanjing Jiangnan and the new main city of Jiangbei, the Fifth Bridge can be regarded as a new landmark for the development of Nanjing Riverside in terms of function, technology and significance.
