On December 9, Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone and ABB Group officially signed an agreement to launch the ABB Drive Products Super Factory Project.

This project marks ABB’s only wholly owned manufacturing base in Jiangsu Province and signals a new phase in the long-standing partnership between ABB and Nanjing.

Tuomo Höysniemi, Global President of ABB Motion Drive Products, described the signing as another major milestone in ABB’s development in China, noting that Nanjing serves as ABB’s strategic core in East China. The trust built through years of cooperation continues to reinforce ABB’s confidence in sustained investment.

As a global leader in electrification and automation, ABB has built a full value chain in China spanning R&D, manufacturing, sales, and services. Its drive products business—an early pioneer of variable frequency technology—has led China’s low-voltage drive market since 2008, enabling customers across energy, industry, and infrastructure to achieve higher efficiency, precision control, and lower carbon footprints.

ABB’s expanded investment reflects not only confidence in Jiangning, but also in Nanjing’s role as a gateway for high-quality, high-level international cooperation.
