LG Electronics’ investment in Qixia in 1997 marked the beginning of the district’s cooperation with South Korea. Over the past nearly three decades, Qixia has pursued diverse collaboration with South Korea in sectors such as optoelectronic displays, new energy vehicles, and modern services. Today, the district hosts close to 100 Korean-funded enterprises, including LG Electronics, SK Ecoplant, and Busan Bank, with a combined investment approaching USD 16 billion and directly generating around 70,000 jobs. In 2021, Qixia was designated one of Jiangsu’s first and Nanjing’s only “China-Japan-ROK (Jiangsu) Industrial Cooperation Demonstration Parks.”

“The efficient logistics network in the development zone, the highly localized supply chain support, and a business environment that stays out of the way when things are going well but responds swiftly when help is needed — these together have created the soil in which our company has put down deep roots in Nanjing,” said Shin Hyo-sik, General Manager of Nanjing LG New Technology Co., Ltd., as he shared his “Nanjing story” with attending entrepreneurs. “Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of our company’s establishment in Qixia. There is a Chinese saying, ‘At thirty, one stands firm.’ Going forward, we will continue to deepen our cooperation with Nanjing and share with the city new opportunities arising from industrial upgrading, technological innovation, and the growth of the service sector.”
