Nanjing Launches First 2026 Dedicated Freight Train to Central Asia

Nanjing has kicked off the new year with the launch of its first dedicated international freight train of 2026, transporting 55 containers of locally produced home appliances to Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The shipment, worth around USD 2.1 million, showcases how customized rail services are helping local manufacturers reach overseas markets more efficiently. The train departed from Yaohuamen freight yard and will deliver directly to Central Asia, reducing transit complexity and improving supply chain reliability.

Over the past year, Nanjing significantly expanded its customized rail freight operations, recording strong growth in both train frequency and export value. With steady increases in Central Asia-bound services and renewed links to ASEAN markets, the city is strengthening its position as a key rail logistics gateway connecting China with Eurasia.
