Recently, the ZhiGuang Intelligent Fundus Navigation Laser Robot, independently developed by Nanjing-based company Robotrak (Nanjing Brightview Robotrak Technology Co., Ltd.), has been installed and put into clinical use at the Affiliated Hospital of the University of São Paulo in Brazil. This marks the first overseas deployment of the original Chinese intelligent ophthalmic device, signifying that high-end medical robots manufactured in Nanjing are accelerating their global expansion.

As one of China’s few cities with full industry chain capabilities for robot development, Nanjing is home to nearly 200 robotics enterprises, forming a complete industrial system covering industrial, special-purpose, service and humanoid robots. In the medical robotics sector, the city has built a diversified product portfolio spanning surgical treatment, elderly care and other medical scenarios. Robotrak stands out as a pacesetting innovator in this sector. Its intelligent fundus navigation laser robot adopts a 577 nm yellow laser as the therapeutic light source. Integrated with ultra-wide-angle fundus imaging, AI-powered lesion identification, intelligent treatment planning, high-definition image navigation, eye-tracking and precise robotic delivery technologies, the system transforms traditional fundus laser therapy from experience-dependent manual operation into real-time image-guided, accurately positioned and standardized treatment workflows. This product was previously honored as a winning solution in the AI medical device innovation initiative, jointly launched by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Medical Products Administration.

Boosted by successive municipal action plans for the high-quality development of the robotics industry issued by the Nanjing municipal government, a growing number of innovative enterprises represented by Robotrak are thriving rapidly.
