Nanjing Port has taken a major step in global connectivity with the launch of its first direct international container service to Southeast Asia, following the arrival of the COSCO Shipping’s “Dahua” vessel on December 26.

Serving Singapore and Jakarta, the route enables exporters to bypass coastal hubs, delivering tangible benefits in time and cost efficiency. Freight costs per container are expected to fall by approximately USD 200, offering immediate relief to manufacturing and equipment exporters.

The vessel’s multi-cargo integrated design supports mixed shipments in a single voyage, aligning with the needs of industrial exporters shipping machinery, equipment, and components together.

With international routes tripling since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Nanjing Port now serves as the largest multimodal transport hub in the Yangtze River basin, with transit connections covering six provinces and one municipality along the river.
