At the end of 2020, the hand-painted scroll of Nanjing City Wall “The World Sees The Beauty of City Wall” is officially released!

The nearly 200-meter-long scroll is decorated with the corridors of the T1 and T2 terminals of Nanjing Lukou International Airport, attracting citizens and tourists to stop and take pictures.

This is the first airport in Nanjing and even the whole country using escalators as a carrier to promote local characteristic culture!

The scroll adopts traditional Chinese painting techniques, and incorporates the essence of the color used in immortal masterpieces such as “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” and “A Picture of the River on the Qingming Festival” into one volume. In terms of content, with more modern visual language and expression techniques, 13 characteristic gates throughout the city of Nanjing were selected, accompanied by 16 classic poems depicting Nanjing, which strung together 24 scenic spots around the city walls. The cultural features and historical connotations of Nanjing city wall are displayed in the long scroll, perfectly integrated with the media form of the airport escalator. Escalator riders will go through exhilarating experience in which changing sceneries are presented.  

Nanjing City Wall is one of the most important urban cultural business cards of Nanjing. This time, Nanjing takes the advantage of Lukou International Airport to display cultural tourism, and enhance the visual effect with the hand-painted scroll. The scroll tells the story of the city wall and shows the charm of the literary capital.
