We’re foreigners, but never outsiders!

Li Ka is an Pakistani student who’s been studying international trade in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. When the epidemic first started, Li Ka’s family in Pakistan was very worried about him and called him to return home. “I have lived in Nanjing for 6 years. This is my home. My home is going through disasters. How can I leave?” Li Ka said, he wanted to stay and face everyone.

Li Ka is the founder of FCTA (“From Compassion to Action”), a foreign volunteer team in Nanjing. FCTA currently has more than 500 volunteers.

During the epidemic, Li Ka organized many volunteers in the team to go to epidemic prevention and control points to assist the community in completing body temperature measurement, personnel registration, and translation. Li Ka also actively used overseas social media to spread the real situation of China’s war “epidemic”, so that netizens have a correct understanding of the epidemic and a correct view of China’s efforts and sacrifices.

On the evening of February 27th, Li Ka hosted a webinar on Facebook to talk about what he saw in Nanjing, refute fake news about China on overseas social media, and introduced the effective Nanjing epidemic prevention experience to the people in his hometown.

He Fu from the UK has more than 30 years of media work experience, and he has spent most of his life in China. In this epidemic, He Fu also chose to watch and help Nanjing people.

He Fu runs a number of foreign language websites and public accounts. He tells the story of Nanjing and Nanjing people in a way that foreigners are used to.

During the epidemic, He Fu assisted in translating, writing, and publishing nearly a hundred articles of epidemic prevention notices and prevention and control knowledge, which were published on Nanjingren’s website and foreigners’ WeChat group to help foreigners in Nanjing fight the epidemic together.

The English version of CCTV’s “Route Map of Coronavirus Protection Measures” translated by him has received widespread attention on overseas websites and social media. He created the English cheering slogan “We will win together” and became a public service advertisement for internet celebrities.

He Fu said: “As foreigners in Nanjing, we are no different from other people. We are all members of this city. We are foreigners, but we are not outsiders!
